The Queen and The Damned United producer Andy Harries is set to bring Pink Floyd's seminal 1979 number one hit Another Brick in the Wall to the big screen.
This is not a remake of Alan Parker's Pink Floyd: The Wall. Instead, it will be a biopic revolving around the schoolchildren who appear on the track, and their music teacher Alan Renshaw. It has been described by Deadline as "Dead Poets Society meets School of Rock", with its story following Renshaw's arrival in a struggling north London public school in the late 70s, where he eventually leads his music class to sing the chorus on Pink Floyd's seminial hit. And thus is fired because of the song's controversial lyrics.
First-time screenwriter Steve Thompson will pen the script for Left Bank and BBC Films. At this time, Andy Harries has not secured the rights to the Pink Floyd song.
