1 The appearance of educational video
While working on my doctoral program at Indiana University,I was taking a class on infant development.During that period, our baby,Aleka, had to be dropped off at a babysitter's house .I didn't want Aleka to watch any TV shows, but I also didn't want her left unattended while the babysitter was busy -so I made an interactive, educational video for her to watch.
I designed the video to be educational as well as fun and interactive.I wanted her to learn about language in much the same way that babies learn about objects -through many sensory systems. To learn about objects, babies put them in their mouths, shake them, look at them, and listen to them.Instead of simply hearing language-like other babies -I wanted her to see language, say it,and see and hear what the words meant.
